Question: How do we know that UVC Sanitizing Solutions service treats COVID-19 in our business facility?

Answer: On every decontamination job our technicians utilize special UV-C Testing Strips (see our services and pricing page for a picture) that are placed in various places throughout the facility.  These strips start off as a bright yellow color and change to a green or dark green color when exposed to germicidal UV-C light. The darker the green, the higher the exposure intensity.  MRSA, COVID-19, and other pathogens require their own amounts of UV-C energy exposure in order to be destroyed or inactivated.  By using our special color coded keys and comparing the UV-C Testing Strips we can accurately verify that the entire area has been exposed to enough UV-C light to treat ALL pathogens, including COVID-19.  Surprisingly, Coronavirus is one of the easier pathogens to treat requiring a smaller dose of UV-C than a lot of other viruses and bacteria.

Question: What needs to be done if we have a confirmed case of either an employee, customer, or visitor who tested positive for COVID-19 and was present in the facility or building?

Answer: According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) the first thing to do is make sure the person is removed from the facility and their exit path is cleared and contained, all while wearing a mask and covering their face as much as possible.  The next step would be to close-off and isolate the area in which the person was located.  This is when you can immediately contact us for a UV-C complete air and surface treatment of the entire facility.  This is what we are trained to do and we will be sure to treat the area completely for COVID-19 and other pathogens.

Also see: General Duty Clause, 29 USC 654, section 5(a)(1) requires that employers protect their employees from recognized hazards.   It is an employer's responsibility to maintain a reasonably safe environment for their employees and invitees.  Visit the OSHA website for a more detailed list of guidelines at  https://www.osha.gov/SLTC/covid-19/

Question: Can the owner of a business perform the decontamination for a COVID-19 case?

Answer: There are no clear regulations that can prevent having one of the employers try and clean and disinfect an area.  However, it is highly recommended to have a specialized decontamination company like UVC Sanitizing Solutions, LLC send trained professionals out to perform the sanitizing and cleaning.   Be sure to follow and meet the requirements to comply with the OSHA and EPA regulations.

Question: Can a Ultraviolet-C decontamination be done by an employee of the business?

Answer:  Yes, however using UV-C on your own can carry many different risks if improperly performed.  UV-C can pose serious risk to skin or eyes if not properly protected with personal protective equipment (PPE).  There are also specific strategies to follow to make sure UV-C can effectively be used to treat COVID-19 and all other pathogens.  This requires proper training and certification that UVC Sanitizing Solutions, LLC employs to all of its certified field technicians.  We use a wide range of high-end equipment in many different ways to effectively treat specific areas, as well as follow a rigorous set of safety procedures on every job.  With a lack of proper equipment and training it would take many hours and pose many risks as compared to the service we offer which can be done safely in most cases in only 30-45 minutes, treating 99.9% of all viruses, bacteria, mold, and fungi.
